playing triangles  Early childhood classes are based on children's singing games, songs and rhymes and the use of simple , untuned                                                                                  percussion instruments so that they will move and play to the accompaniment of their own singing voices.
Your child is immersed in a musical environment, lead by the teacher, and at home, by you.
They develop beat and rhythm, gross and fine motor skills through action songs eventually learning to read and                                                                                     write music, all through the joy of music making.

Your child develops as a complete musician rather than just a technician.

In keeping with the Kodaly philosophy, I teach sol-fa, hand signs, movable doh and time names.
Your child learns to sing in tune, keep a beat and listen actively.
Each level is age appropriate including a diverse repertoire of songs, rhymes and games.

Levels

Nursery - birth to 1      For babies and mothers, fathers and caregivers...... even mothers to be!

You are your child's first music teacher....with my help! Come and learn songs and rhymes to help with bath and change time
while starting your child's musical journey. You will improve your own musical skills as well.

Toddlers - 1 to 2 years old

The toddlers are developing speech and gross motor skills so I use lots of action songs/games and fingerplays. Concentration is short
so props like puppets, simple percussion instruments and singing stories are included. You are your child's partner in activities
making a closer musical bond between you . Toddlers are singing in tune by 2 years of age.

Tiny Tots - 2 to 3 years old

In this age group, we see more speech development, a longer concentration span and better manual dexterity.
They have the ability to recite many rhymes and sing many simple songs. Partner activities are stressed more at this level as well.
Thw twins performing Blue Bells

Preschoolers - 3 to 4 years old

More complex movements are included in this level ( ie hopping, skipping). The children can follow directions more readily making them
ready for circle games. They love to play games with the comparatives in music - loud/soft, high/low and fast/slow.
At this stage, we also increase the time of the lessons from 30 to 45 minutes.

Kindys - 4 to 5 year olds

These children love to be challenged and independent so we ask more of them in class. Part work is introduced as partner songs
and beat vs rhythm fun.  Rhythm is explored through clapping and chanting syllables. Chime bars are used to keep
a repeated rhythm (an ostinato) and ear training is increased to include timbre, extremes of pitches and wider ranged songs.

Little Musicians - 5 to 7 years old

Each group is different, but they are learning sol-fa, hand signs and time names and writing and reading limited notes on the staff.                                   Click here
to hear the twins sing Blue Bells
They can keep the beat and sing independently in two part pieces. We also start investigating and composing little pieces                                                            animated notes
within the concepts they have learned..................... Real little musicians!

Family Classes -  mixed ages

For the convenience of  families, selected classes are mixed ages,

generally within a three year range and follow a modified curriculum based on the ages.
